A short list of things I’ve learnt this week

12 Mar

1) No matter how annoying the dead bugs on the windscreen are, you still won’t remember to wash them off when you have the opportunity.

2) KMart is astonishingly cheap.  This makes you buy lots of stuff you don’t really need.  They’re clever.

3) The Karratha natural gas facility is responsible for 1% of Australia’s GDP.   Karratha has a population of approximately 12,000 and is about 1,oookms from the nearest city.  I now know what a gold rush looks like.

4) The red dirt indelibly stains all clothes a rusty brown.  It’s the new black.

5) The further you are from a town, the more Biblical the plague of flies.

6) You should always have a paper and pencil in your cyclone kit.  The storm will be so loud that this will be the only way to communicate.

7) Seeing a 20,000 year old rock painting of a man throwing a boomerang is awesome.  In the true sense of the word.

Australia is a magical place. I loved living there. And yes, I remember red dirt on my white school socks, every day.

I love these – keep them up. Like the pen and paper one in particular!
