A short list of things I’ve learnt this week

11 Dec
  1. Air New Zealand has mint scented loos.  This is particularly pleasing when you’re feeling queasy at 3am.
  2. Night flights are grim.
  3. Heinz products go under the name of Watties in New Zealand.
  4. Kiwi playgrounds are plentiful and excellent.
  5. When the indicator stick is on the wrong side of the steering wheel, it’s very disconcerting.  On the plus side, the car windows are extremely clean.
  6. Auckland has very good pedestrian crossings.
  7. You can give the town planner a sabbatical, but he still gets excited about pedestrian crossings.
  8. Father Christmas has a Kiwi accent.  It’s true.  We met him this week.

I like your lists too! And it’s really fun when you’re writing them about our country even if we’re not currently there…

My Dad is a roading engineer and my childhood holiday memories are full of stopping on the side of the road while he inspected pot holes. We took photos of the worst roads as we traveled just to send to him!

I like writing the lists. They’re a good way of including all the random things I’ve noticed but haven’t already made it into a blog post.
