Rosedale Show

25 Aug

This week we’ve mostly been in North Yorkshire, as part of our attempt-to-visit-as-many-relatives-as-possible-before-we-leave campaign.  Whilst in the sometimes sunny, sometimes very wet, north, we visited a show.  Not, as Dickon thought, a singing and dancing type of show, but a race foxhounds, parade cows, eat pork scratchings kind of show.

It was completely fab.  I can’t think of a more English way to finish off our summer holidays.

This post was written for The Gallery at Sticky Fingers.  The prompt this week was a photo you are proud of.  I’m afraid I couldn’t just pick one to encapsulate the whole show, so you’ve got rather a lot.  Hopefully they tell the story.

How lovely – this is just my kind of show! Did they have Morris Dancers – the proper ones, men in white with bells on their knees, not those daft girl teams that look like our American cheerleaders?

No Morris dancers, but a lovely brass band!

I love proper shows…we have a cheese show here! Those gooseberries look gorgeous and I particularly like the Stork shot…perfect!

Thank you, I’m rather partial to that one too. It’s for collecting the entry money…

Looks like a great time. Can’t believe the size of those gooseberries or is it your amazing photog skills?

    How wonderfully British!

Brilliant photos – a great way to get the feel of the day. I like the Stork margarine tub; was that for taking the money?

It was indeed for taking the money. I loved that.

It looks like you had a lot of fun! I loved the photo that has a guy with the horse and a hill on the background.

It was in a beautiful setting, in a valley, with the moors all around.

Fantastic, particularly the tub of Stork shot! Nothing like a good old English country show 🙂
