Around the world with Mouk

25 Apr

We’ve just got this lovely Fremouknch book, which has been published in the UK by the Tate Gallery.  It’s about a cute little bear who travels all around the world, making friends along the way.  Each double page features a different country and is full of quirky information such as what is eaten to break the Ramadan fast in the Sahara, how elephants are decorated for the festival of Ganesh in India and how to ask for chips (or French fries if you are American) when on Lake Titicaca.

The illustrations are gorgeous, full of detail and cute animals in different national dress.  And there are also two pages of beautiful, re-usable, stickers to personalise the book, such as outfits for the animals and additional characters.  It’s a lovely way to introduce different countries to young children and each time we read it, we see something new.
